TRAINING & CONSULTATION

- Restorative Practices (RP) – Based on the guiding principles of exploring relationships, meaningful engagement, shared decision-making, and active accountability, RP provides a framework for schools and organizations to build a sense of community and respond to challenging behaviors in school and employment contexts. The goal is to move from exclusionary or punitive practices (e.g., school suspension or shaming/blaming supervisory approach) – that reduce a student or employee’s sense of connection – toward inclusionary responses that encourage healing and wellbeing.

This summer LSSU identified a need to support the social emotional needs of adults as we were preparing to reopen our buildings and welcome students. There was a lot of uncertainty and anxiety about coming back and the ability to stay safe. We reached out to the Lamoille Restorative Center to help with these conversations and then to help create some restorative circle prompts to support faculty and staff in sharing these concerns during in-service.
