Lamoille Restorative Center is excited to announce their new role as coordinating agency for the Guardian ad Litem program of Lamoille County.

Guardians Ad Litem, known as “GALs”, are highly trained volunteers appointed by Family Court to advocate for children under supervision of the Department for Children and Families or involved in other juvenile court proceedings. GALs act as independent advisors and advocates responsible for helping children understand the proceedings, and provide information about the child’s situation to attorneys and judges to achieve outcomes that are in the child’s best interests.

Kathy Elkins, long time Stowe resident and LRC reparative panel volunteer, has been a GAL for 8 years. “I’m delighted to know that LRC will be the coordinating agency for the Lamoille GAL program. Their broad experience with youth services and the court system makes this a natural match.”

GAL is just one of several volunteer opportunities at LRC. For more information contact Bobby Blanchard at bblanchard@lrcvt.org.
