The Lamoille Valley School Engagement Program
The Lamoille Valley School Engagement Program collaborates with local schools, students, and families to offer restorative approaches to chronic absenteeism. Where traditional approaches to truancy typically focus solely on the actions of parents and youth, the LVSEP seeks to build meaningful relationships with multiple stakeholders to identify and overcome barriers to school attendance. The LVSEP team is made up of three School Engagement Specialists – one each for LNSU, LSUU, and OSSU – one supervisor, and a director. In a typical school year, schools refer over 150 students to LVSEP for supportive interventions to get re-engaged with school and their community.
